Arrington Makes Her Grand Debut...

Our sweet angel made her grand entrance February 9, 2010 at 5:11 p.m. exactly on her due date! Arrington Elizabeth weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She is the most beautiful and amazing little girl her Mommy and Daddy have ever laid eyes on. She has truly stolen our hearts, and we could not imagine life without her. It truly is amazing, the instant love you feel for your own child. She is such a blessing and a gift from HIM above.
Here's our Birth story:
I woke up early Tuesday morning around 1:45 a.m. feeling some cramping in my stomach and lower back. I didn't think much about it, since I was being induced the next day, and thought for sure that she would not arrive on her ACTUAL due date. I laid in bed for awhile, but could not go back to sleep, while the pain began to slowly increase. I woke Ben up and told him I thought I was having Real contractions. Ben said "ok", and rolled over... haha. I eventually got up and went and looked on the computer what contractions felt like. Sure enough, I was definitely having CONTRACTIONS! I think it finally registered in Ben's groggy head and he got up and came and asked me if we should head to the hospital or page the on call nurse. I told him the contractions were about 5 minutes apart, so we decided to page the on call nurse. She called back about 5 minutes later and told us to head up to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital with bags packed and checked into triage around 5:15 a.m. The nurse checked me and said that I was only dilated to a 1. Oh Dear. We laid there for awhile as the contractions increased, and they had me walk around the delivery area for a straight hour. They then checked me and I was still only at a 1. To say the least I was one frustrated little Momma! Since I had an appointment with my doctor that morning at 11:00 and would be induced the next day they sent me home at 8:15 a.m. Once we got home I tried to sleep, but the contractions were coming on stronger and stronger. We decided to head to my doctors office early. Once we got there they knew I was in pain! I was pacing the room and wanting to scream for the doctor to hurry and come check me. Once Dr. Read got in the room he checked and sure enough I was dilated to a 3 and the contraction were about every 3-5 minutes apart. He sent me straight to the hospital. Thank God! We arrived at the hospital around noon and were admitted to a room instantly. Once I changed and got my IV the nurse checked me and I was already at a 5. They asked if I wanted an epidural and I told them I would hold out for awhile, since Dr. Read told me to wait as long as for as long as I could take the pain. Since Dr. Read was not on call another doctor came in and broke my water. From there the contractions were coming on STRONG and I was now at a 6-7. EPIDURAL PLEASE! The anesthesiologist and I became best friends. Once the epidural was in, it was smooth sailing from there. I was dilating quick and in no time I was at a 10 and a +2. Dr. Read actually ended up coming into the hospital just to deliver Arrington! He is the BEST, most kind and caring man! I started pushing at 4:30 and our little angel arrived at 5:11 p.m. Arrington is absolutely perfect and just what we had dreamed of. What an amazing and wonderful experience! Ben was amazing throughout the whole process and was quite the multi tasker! He not only stood by my side while holding my leg and coaching me, but was also a great videographer and photographer :)! Ben is such an amazing Daddy and Arrington is going to adore him, just as he adores her! I can not tell you how strong and amazing the love we have for this sweet little daughter of ours. What a gift from Heaven!
