Bennett's Birth Day

I'm typing this now as I hold my sweet 12 day old baby boy! Oh, how I love the innocence of a newborn. His sweet baby breath, the cutest little sounds he whimpers, and adorable faces he makes. I truly wish I could bottle up every second of his sweetness!

Bennett Dixon was born on Wednesday, April 20th at 2:34 p.m. weighing in at a whopping 6 lbs. 6 oz. and 19 inches long. Those first cries were precious, and the first time I held him in my arms are a memory I will forever hold in my heart. We have his birth all on video, as we also have Arrington's, and we have watched it many of times.

We arrived at the hospital at 5:20 a.m. to check in and to start my, or should I say Bennett's, induction. The pitocin was started around 6:30, but I did not start having contractions for awhile. I was dilated to a 3 when I checked in and stayed there for quite some time. They kept upping my pitocin, and Dr. R arrived to break my water. After this we were well on our way. I soon received my epidural, a heavenly god send in the pain department, and was finally able to relax. Around 12:30 my contractions were getting closer and closer. Soon I was dilated to a five, and soon thereafter an eight... you could say I skipped a few numbers ;). From an eight I was a ten in about 15-20 minutes and ready to push. During all this my blood pressure kept dropping due to the epidural and towards the end Bennett's heart rate kept dropping, so they started me on oxygen. Dr. R was in another delivery room finishing up, as I was feeling a ton of pressure and making sure Bennett did not arrive on his own. Panic started in and I needed Dr. R in the room ASAP! Bennett was not wanting to wait and wanted to join this wonderful world! Finally, Dr. R arrived! Three pushes and our Healthy, Perfect, and Precious sweet baby boy joined us!

Also, thank you to everyone who helped take care of our baby girl during our stay in the hospital. It was so relaxing to know that she was in wonderful hands! And a BIG THANK YOU to the man himself upstairs! Thank you for blessing us with an angel not once, but twice! Your work is truly amazing!
